The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering $10,000 to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the persons responsible for burning two business facilities in Christiansted, the V.I.P.D. has made known via a release. That’s on top of the financial reward given by Crime Stoppers USVI for successful tips.
On April 30 the Stop & Save Food Market located in Mt. Welcome was burned, and on May 8 St. Croix Trading in Mount Welcome was also set ablaze. Both fires have been determined to be intentionally set, according to the ATF.
The federal agency has determined that evidence collected from the Stop & Save Food Market fire scene indicates that two or more individuals were involved and likely sustained light to severe burns from setting the fires. Indicators for involved suspects include a strong smell of gasoline, diesel fuel, or other flammable liquids on their bodies or clothing, and burnt, singed, or melted clothing.
If you know of anyone who has sustained burns, singed hair, burns or other injuries to their arms, legs, abdomen, face or neck between the dates of April 30-May 8, please provide this information to the USVI Fire Marshal’s Office, or to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
