ST. CROIX — A man was arrested Sunday on the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport’s tarmac while attempting to leave St. Croix, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced. The man had allegedly shot a male victim earlier in the day.
According to Mr. Dratte, at around 12:30p.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched by 911 to the Juan F. Luis Hospital about a shooting victim. Upon arrival to the medical facility, the officers met with a black male individual who had sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim told the officers that while at his residence, the suspect, identified as John Lindquist, discharged shots at him striking him in the left knee. The victim said he was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
Officers then received information Mr. Lindquist, 47, was on his way to the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport to board a flight and immediately hustled to the airport in an attempt to stop him. Mr. Lindquist was apprehended while boarding the plane, as seen in the feature image of this story.
Mr. Lindquist was charged with third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and reckless endangerment.
Unable to post bail of $50,000, Mr. Lindquist was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional facility. His advisement hearing was held on June 3.
