ST. THOMAS — The body of a man was discovered in Coki Point Thursday night after concerned residents reported the firing of gunshots in the area, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has confirmed to The Consortium.

The 911 emergency call center dispatched officers from from the Mariel C. Newton Command along with investigators from the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau to the scene in Coki Point.

Upon arrival, officers and investigators discovered the body of a Black male in the roadway near an outlet called the Feed Shop. The victim, whose body showed no vital signs, was shot multiple times and appeared to have died on the scene, Mr. Dratte said.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 27-year-old Clement Alturo King III.
