ST. JOHN — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority on Friday advised the St. John community of roadside solid waste collection delays.
Collection service delays is due to mechanical challenges with the collection trucks which the authority is expeditiously addressing, WMA said. The regular collection schedule will resume on Saturday.
Residents are encouraged to utilize the larger bin sites (20/30-yard) at alternative locations to dispose of household trash until collection services are back on schedule as follows:
• Coral Bay – East side and Country
• Gift Hill – South Central
• Great Cruz Bay – Southside
• Pine Peace – Town and Northside
• Susannaberg Transfer Station – Central Location
Persons found in violation of the territory’s litter laws are subject to a fine of $1,000 and/or 180 days in jail, WMAc said. Residents are also reminded to report incidents of illegal dumping by calling our 24- Hour Hotline at 844-WMA-USVI (844-962-8784). Residents are reminded to ‘Put Trash in its Place!’
WMA says it continues to work diligently to provide reliable services and it apologized for the inconvenience these delays in service may cause.
