Positive Nelson, the former senator and current Department of Agriculture commissioner has partnered with 420Media and St. Croix-based NT Media Productions to host what is being called the first comprehensive medical marijuana conference, named “CannaVal.

“As the Virgin Islands prepares for the roll-out of Medical Cannabis, it is of paramount importance that we educate our healthcare practitioners, patients, policymakers, business prospects, and the people,” said Mr. Nelson.

The event will be held on Saturday at the St. Croix Educational Complex from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Programs of CannaVal will encompass focus seminars, offering an in-depth exchange with speakers, said the release. “420MEDIA worked to bring the best in class cannabis and hemp education to the people of the USVI with local support and partnerships,” said 420MEDIA owner, Kerri Accardi.

“In addition to learning about the many health benefits derived from the cannabis plant, Virgin Islanders will gain a better understanding of the entrepreneurial and employment opportunities within the medical cannabis industry,” said Nykole Tyson, owner of NT Media Productions.

The agenda includes the following panels:

Business and Legal: A panel discussion on the breakdown of The Medical Cannabis Patient Care Act (MCPCA), a conversation on licensing, a talk called Entrepreneurship: Building A Business in Cannabis, with discussions on banking and taxes.

Medical Cannabis: A panel that includes an introduction to the endocannabinoid system, a tutorial on CBD 101, an overall on methods of delivery and patient testimonies.

The Seed to Sale panel will included experts from the field discussing genetics/seeds/growing, and an educational discussion on build-outs and grow houses with additional emphasis on extraction and Point-of-Sales (POS) Systems.

The Hemp panel will include education on Industrial Hemp and CBD. Experts on hemp will be on-hand to discuss the economics and history on hemp.
