Police Make Arrest In March 20 Watergut Homicide

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / August 2, 2019

ST. CROIX — The man police believe is responsible for the murder of Kelvin Woodson, who was shot to death on March 20, was arrested on Thursday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has made known.

The suspect, 33-year-old Pernell Adulphus, who goes by the moniker “Pete”, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, first-degree reckless endangerment, and discharging or aiming a firearm.

Police allege that Mr. Adulphus shot and killed Mr. Woodson and assaulted another individual in the vicinity of Harmony Grocery and Bar in Watergut, Christiansted.

Mr. Adulphus was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility after failing to make bail of $1 million.

Criminal Investigative Bureau (C.I.B.) Commander Lt. Naomi Joseph said the arrest would not have been possible without the collaboration of law enforcement and the community. “We thank the community for their assistance in this case and continue to ask the public for information and videos in the Floattopia shooting this past weekend,” Lt. Joseph said.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about the Floatopia shooting to call the C.I.B. tip line at 469-475-3871, or 340-778-2211. You may also deliver an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
