Health Insurance Plan Open Enrollment Period For V.I. Gov’t Employees Is About To Begin

Open Enrollment for participants in the Virgin Islands Government Employees Group Insurance Program begins on Monday, August 12, and concludes on Friday, September 13, the Division of Personnel has announced.

The Open Enrollment period provides covered employees and retirees the opportunity to make benefit changes, add or remove dependents, or increase their supplemental life insurance coverage. Covered employees and retirees will only be able to make changes after Open Enrollment if there is a qualifying life event, such as marriage, divorce, birth of a child or change in employment status.

According to D.O.P., active employees who want to make changes can do so by accessing the new online enrollment system Bentek, at http://www.mybentek.com/gvi. Bentek is 100% mobile ready and can be accessed by using any device, such as a smartphone, tablet or computer.

Paper forms are not accepted.

Retirees who wish to make changes to their Health Insurance Benefits should visit the Division of Personnel location in their respective District on St. Croix or St. Thomas/St. John.

The Division also announced a series of informational Benefit Forums for active employees and retirees. The forums are intended to introduce and explain new and existing Health Insurance Benefits.

Here are the Forum dates, times and locations:

  *   *Julius Sprauve School Cafeteria, St. John, on Monday, August 12th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for retirees; and 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for active employees.

  *   * Charlotte Amalie High School Auditorium, St. Thomas, on Tuesday, August 13th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for retirees; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Human Resource Office and from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for active employees
  *
  *   * Central High School Cafeteria, St. Croix, on Wednesday August 14th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for retirees; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Human Resource Office and from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for active employees.
