Dept. of Education Announces 2019-2020 School Orientation Schedules For St. Thomas-St. John District Schools

The Virgin Islands Department of Education announced the orientation schedules for the following: Charlotte Amalie High School; Ivanna Eudora Kean High School; and Lockhart Primary School (K-3). 

Charlotte Amalie High  

The Charlotte Amalie High School will hold mandatory orientations for all new and returning students and their parents/guardians for the 2019-2020 school year.

Early Payment of Fees & Photo ID Schedule – Students are encouraged to pay their fees early and avoid the long lines at orientation. If an ID picture is needed, students are asked to wear a light blue school shirt. Students should also have a copy of their updated immunization card and a copy of personal insurance, if they are not purchasing the school’s insurance.

August 20th-23rd

9: 00 a.m. – 1: 00 p.m.

  • School Insurance: $18
  • School ID: $ 15
  • PTA Dues:  $ 10
  • Student Fee: $10
  • Copy of student’s immunization card (front and back)
  • Copy of parent’s personal insurance information (school insurance)

Orientation Schedule – Students are required to wear full school uniform and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additionally, students are asked to bring their receipt indicating payment of fees.

August 29th

  • Grade 12:  8:30 a.m.
  • Grade 11: 10:30 a.m.

August 30th

  • Grade 10: 8:30 a.m.
  • Grade 9: 10: 30 a.m.

Charlotte Amalie High School, Grades 9 – 12

CAHS Buildings A & B will now be housed in the modular structures on the field and on the outskirts of the main campus, amounting to the whole of the Cancryn modular campus, except the modular units on the tennis court. CAHS will continue to use the auditorium, gymnasium, modular units, Career & Technical Education classes, Building N, and JROTC buildings. Students will continue to wear the traditional CAHS uniform..

Lockhart Primary School (K-3)

August 28th

Lockhart Primary School (K-3) will hold mandatory student orientations for school year 2019-2020 at 9 a.m. on August 28th in the school’s cafeteria. Parents of students in grades K-3 are asked to attend. Students do not have to wear uniforms; however, students must be in attendance.

During the orientation, parents/guardians are asked to present immunization records for students and pay required school fees:

•   $18 for school insurance 


•   $19 for Physical Education (PE) uniform set ($9 for PE t-shirt and $10 for PE shorts) 


Families who do not wish to purchase school insurance, must present a photocopy of an insurance card (front and back) under which the student is covered. If more than one student is covered under the same insurance policy, a separate copy is required for each child.

Lockhart Elementary School/K-3 Primary School

Lockhart Elementary School will temporarily become a primary school  (K-3) in school year 2019- 2020 and will be housed in the colorful modular structures currently located on the southeastern side of the Lockhart campus. Students in the Lockhart Primary School will wear the traditional Lockhart uniform.

La Escuela Primaria Lockhart mantendrá su orientación para el año escolar 2019-2020 el miércoles

28 de agosto de 2019 a las 9:00 a.m. en la cafetería de la escuela. Se les pide a los padres de estudiantes de grados Kinder a 3er grado que asistan. Los estudiantes no tienen que usar sus uniformes escolares, sin embargo, deben estar presentes.

Durante la orientación, se les pide a los padres / tutores que presenten los registros de vacunación de los estudiantes y paguen las tarifas escolares requeridas, incluyendo $18 para el seguro escolar y $19 para el uniforme de Educación Física ($9 para la camiseta y $10 para los pantalones cortos). Las familias que no desean comprar un seguro escolar deben presentar una fotocopia de una tarjeta de seguro (anverso y reverso) en la que el estudiante está cubierto. Si más de un estudiante está cubierto por la misma póliza de seguro, se requiere una copia por separado para cada niño.

Ivanna Eudora Kean

The Ivanna Eudora Kean High School will hold mandatory orientations for new and returning students and their parents/guardians for the 2019-2020 school year.

Pay School Fees & Take Photo ID/ Library: Students must present their up-to-date immunization records, show proof of insurance, and pay school fees ($70). New students must have official placement letter from the Curriculum Center. All students are required to wear the pink uniform shirt to take the school Photo ID.

August 22, 2019

Incoming 9th graders: 9:30 a.m.

Returning 9th & 10th graders: 11:30 a.m.

August 23, 2019

11th Graders:  9:30 a.m.

12th Graders: 10:30 a.m.

Please note the following fees and documents are required for August 22 & 23, 2019 orientations:

* School insurance – $18

* ID-$15

* Student Activity Fee – $20

* PTSA Dues – $10 (per household)

* Student Planner – $7

* Copy of student’s immunization card (front and back)

* Copy of parent’s personal insurance information (school insurance)

Orientation Schedule – Café: Students must present their up-to-date immunization records, show proof of insurance (or pay $18 insurance fee), and pay school fees. New and transfer students must have official placement letter from the Curriculum Center. All students are required to wear the full school uniform. Parents must accompany students to orientation.

August 29, 2019

Incoming 9th graders: 8:30 a.m.

Returning 9th & 10th graders: 11 a.m.

Grade 11: 1:30 p.m.

September 3, 2019

Grade 12 ~ 8:30 a.m.

Ulla F. Muller School Orientation Schedule for SY 2019-2020

The Ulla F. Muller Elementary School will conduct mandatory orientations September 3- 6 for all students and their parents/guardians for the 2019-2020 school year. 

During the designated orientation times, parents/guardians are asked to present immunization records for students and pay required school fees. Please note that all students should report to school fully dressed in their school uniform on September 3, regardless of their scheduled orientation date.

The orientation schedule is as follows:

September 3 – First Day of School

  • New Student Registration – Cafeteria ~ 8:00 a.m.
  • Kindergarten ~ 9:00 a.m.

September 4, 2019

  • Grades 1, 2and3 ~ 8:15 a.m. 

September 5, 2019

  • Grades 4 and 5 ~ 8:15 a.m. 

September 6, 2019

  • Grade 6 ~ 8:15 a.m.

Gomez Elementary Announces Orientation for SY 2019-2020

Joseph Gomez Elementary School will conduct mandatory orientation for students and parents on August 23 and 26 at the school. 

All students attending orientation sessions are required to wear the full school uniform and be accompanied by an adult, parent or guardian. Parents should come prepared with copies of the student’s immunization record, insurance card(s), and be prepared to pay necessary fees for the school year. 

August 23, 2019

  • Kindergarten ~ 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • 1st and 2nd Grades ~ 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

August 26, 2019

  • 3rd & 4th Grades ~ 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
