ST. CROIX — Two brothers, one of them a FEMA employee, were found dead on Monday morning lying in a relaxed position in their Mary’s Fancy home, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.
According to police, the house is the home of 69-year-old John Rapine, the FEMA employee. The other deceased, John’s brother, was identified as 61-year-old Joseph Rapine.
Mr. Dratte said the 911 emergency call center received a call at 11:09 a.m. Monday for a welfare check on a FEMA employee who did not show up for work. When officers arrived at the home, they discovered the two unresponsive males in the interior of the house.
A preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play, Mr. Dratte said.
Mr. Dratte added that Criminal Investigation Bureau (C.I.B.) detectives were awaiting the results of the autopsies to determine the cause of death.
The case remains under investigation by C.I.B. Both men were identified by next of kin.
