At the Bovoni Landfill early on Wednesday morning, a small fire broke out and authorities have yet to determine what was the cause.
That’s according to the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, also making known that the fire started around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
“It’s hard to determine what it was or where the fire came from, WMA spokesperson Stella Saunders said. “All the waste that was collected that day was deposited here.”
The only clue so far is a combustion of an item in the waste stream.
It all ended with no injuries and little commotion, as A9 Trucking Enterprises LLC, the landfill operations contractor, was able to douse the fire by 4:30 a.m., and also separated the burned waste from other disposed items.
