Man Grazed By Bullet Following Barrage Of Gunfire In Bovoni

ST. THOMAS — A man was grazed by a bullet Friday night after gunshots were fired in the Bovoni area, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has confirmed to the Consortium.

The incident, which occurred around 10: 12 p.m., saw immediate response from police officers, who met with the victim at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for questioning.

The victim, who was grazed between his shoulder blades near the top of his spine, told police he had left his apartment in Bovoni to dump garbage when he suddenly heard rapid gunfire ringing through the neighborhood. The victim said he then felt a burning sensation on his back and quickly ran back to his apartment to ask a family member for a drop to the hospital.

The victim was treated for his injuries and released, according to Mr. Dratte.

The shooting remains under investigation by the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact C.I.B. at 340-774-2211 ext. 5608. You may also contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
