VI Children’s Museum To Host Annual Masquerade Ball Oct. 19 at its New Buccaneer Mall Location On St. Thomas

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / October 10, 2019

The Virgin Islands Children’s Museum will host its fourth annual Masquerade Ball – the museum’s biggest fundraising event of the year – at the new Buccaneer Mall location on St. Thomas on October 19, from 7 p.m. until midnight.

The popular event will feature performances, live and silent auction items, dancing, special cocktails from Mutiny Island Vodka, craft beer from Leatherback Brewing Co. and food supplied by the St. Thomas Restaurant Group.

This year’s theme is “Old Hollywood Glamour.” Pre-sale tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased at the VICM during regular business hours or online here.

Tickets will also be available at the door for $125 per person. Masks are required. Bring your own, or purchase a mask at the museum for $10.

Two years after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Children’s Museum continues to struggle, financially.

“The post IrMaria financial hardship is still being felt, as the costs of rebuilding heavily impacted last year’s operating budget, and 2019 has been a desperate struggle to get back on our feet,” Museum Executive Director Sarah Hughes said in a release Wednesday.

“In spite of the financial difficulties the museum has experienced this year, the VICM has continued to provide high-quality exhibits and  programs, while increasing accessibility to the economically disadvantaged,” Ms. Hughes said.

The museum is located in the Buccaneer Mall in Havensight, across from the Port of Sale Mall.
