Shooting incidents on Thursday in St. Thomas and St. Croix left two victims injured, with the St. Croix victim being in critical but stable condition, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.
The St. Thomas shooting occurred Thursday at about 1:53 a.m. in Estate Peterborg, according to Mr. Dratte. The 911 emergency call center received notification of shots being fired and officers were immediately dispatched to the area.
According to police, during a preliminary investigation the victim stated that he was inside his residence when he heard a banging sound coming from the upstairs portion of the house. The victim said he then went upstairs to check on the noise and came upon several shots being discharged, which caused injuries to the left side of his face, Mr. Dratte said.
St. Croix shooting
The St. Croix shooting incident occurred at roughly 12:30 p.m. at Teague Bay, in the vicinity of the Yacht Club in Christiansted.
According to Mr. Dratte, a male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported by private vehicle to the Juan F. Luis Hospital. Mr. Dratte said the victim was in serious but stable condition.
Both cases were said to be under active investigation by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
