Update: Alvin Gee reported to the hospital today following a diabetic coma he suffered while reporting the news live on 107.9 FM, Da Vibe this morning, but even before he arrived at the Juan Luis Hospital, the esteemed newsman was walking. He is now doing much better.

Around 6:15 a.m. today, venerable Virgin Islands newsman ‘Alvin Gee’ collapsed at his studio while reporting the morning news.
The incident occurred live on the radio, when suddenly strange noises started coming through the airwaves. The noises could be described as the sounds someone makes who had just experienced a seizure or what would come from someone who had fallen into a deep sleep with loud snoring. There were other noises coming from the background, too; as if those present in the studio were trying to help the popular journalist.
When the VI Consortium arrived on the scene, police had already flooded the area, rushing in and out of the packed studio. One police officer dashed to the nearby Thomas Bakery to collect what appeared to be white sugar, and judging from the loud cries of “white sugar, white sugar,” which rang out of another officer’s mouth, that’s exactly what it was.
Alivin Gee, the VI Consortium found out, is diabetic.
The good news, according to one police officer with direct knowledge of the situation, is that Alvin Gee is okay. The officer said the newsman’s blood sugar was low, which, among other reasons, caused him to collapse while on air.
A nurse familiar with diabetic symptoms told the VI Consortium that when a diabetic person is low in blood sugar, a diabetic coma could result and the person’s survival depends on how fast he or she is tended to.
EMTs arrived shortly after the V.I.P.D., and after making their way into the studio to survey the situation, paramedics carried in a stretcher to aid the journalist into the ambulance.
