The St. Croix Foundation has opened the 2014 Fall grant cycle for its Teacher Grant Award Program. Grants in the amount of $500 will be awarded to successful applicants and are geared toward “enhancing the educational experience of public elementary school teachers and their students,” according to the program’s description.
Elementary school teachers from all public schools on St. Croix are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed by the St. Croix Foundation Education Committee and must be received no later than Oct. 1. Awards will be announced by Oct. 17.
Grant applications will be judged on “the project’s ability to enliven students’ creativity and provide students with a broad, interactive learning experience of the world around them.”
Since the Fund’s inception in 2001, the St. Croix Foundation has awarded grants to every elementary school on St. Croix for a variety of projects, including creating personalized family trees, reading books and meeting the authors, teaching students the art of creating mosaics using ceramic tiles, and others.
Applications may be obtained from the Foundation’s website at www.stxfoundation.org or by sending email inquiries to [email protected]. Applicants are encouraged to email their submissions to [email protected], but may also submit them by hand delivery or postal mail.
