VI Dept. of Agriculture Announces Early Office Closures

Business / Community Center / Government / News / Virgin Islands / December 19, 2014

Louis Petersen, Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture (VIDA), is informing the public that the department’s offices will close at 12 noon on Friday, Dec. 19 on St. Croix, and at the same time on Monday, Dec. 22 on St. Thomas.

A press release issued about the closures say they are to “allow employees to attend a holiday luncheon and appreciation ceremony.”

VIDA is asking St. Croix farmers with meat carcasses to be collected at the abattoir to do so this morning. Those seeking more information should call the St. Croix abattoir at 340-778-0997, ext. 243 under Director Cardinal Richardson.

Commissioner Petersen says he regrets the inconvenience the closures will bring, but says he also “recognizes the importance of employee appreciation events.”

For more information, contact the department’s offices on St. Croix at 778-0997,  on St. Thomas at 340-774-5182, and on St. John at 340-776-6274.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
