AgFair Weekend In St. Thomas Offers Cultural Activities And Entertainment On Nov. 19-20

ST. THOMAS — Featuring Art by the Sea youth attractions, the St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Nov. 20, on the grounds of the Reichhold Center for the Arts, UVI has announced.

The theme for this year’s fair is, “Self-Reliance, Self-Esteem for a Better Farming Community in 2016.”

The official ceremony begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, and will be hosted by Rashidi Clenance, followed by the school costume contest and environmental awareness pitch presentations. On sale will be fruits and vegetables, nursery plants, fruit trees, vegetable seedlings, local arts and crafts, prepared food and much more.

Features include live entertainment, educational displays and workshops. There will be performances from the Flambo Combo Band, MASCILYN Bamboula Dancers, Ah We Band, C.A.H.S. Hawks Concert Choir, Gladys Abraham Cultural Dancers, and Spectrum Band with DJ Franklin “Ubba” Benjamin providing music throughout the day. There will also be tours to the CES Demonstration Garden, a grafting demonstration, composting workshops with UVICES and the V.I. Waste Management Authority as well as a coal pot lighting contest.

The annual event is hosted by the St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair Committee in partnership with the University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service, Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture, V. I. Council on the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts and Fintrac. The cost is $3 for those 12 years and older and $2 for youth 11 and under.
