Delegate to Congress Stacey Plaskett was honored by American University’s Washington College of Law (AUWCL) for being one of two alumnae elected to the 114th Congress.
In receiving the honor, Plaskett said she was proud for being recognized, and was especially thankful that it was in the field of public service, joining countless others who’ve taken up the challenge to serve their people.
“It’s great to be back after so many years, and to be among so many great public servants,” Plaskett remarked.
Plaskett also reminisced on her days as a young mother and law student at the University, and encouraged current students not to settle for the status quo and to be relentless in pursuit of their goals.
Following her remarks, the Delegate exchanged tokens of appreciation with AUWCL’s Dean Claudio Grossman and Professor Jamie Raskin, and held conversations with current students.
The Congresswoman and her colleague Rep. Gwen Graham (D-FL), and several Delegates from both the Maryland and Virginia House of Delegates, were honored at the ceremony.
