Female Victims Robbed At Gunpoint, Injured In Clifton Hill

News / Virgin Islands / February 8, 2015

At about 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, two female victims were robbed at gunpoint and gun-butted in the vicinity of Central High School in Clifton Hill, St. Croix.

The incident took place at the intersection of the Just Right Trucking company.

When VI Consortium arrived on the scene, the two victims, who were visibly shaken, could be seen providing statements to detectives actively investigating the crime scene.

While the victims did not speak directly to VI Consortium reporters, sources with direct knowledge of the incident told the VI Consortium the women were walking in a westward direction on the dimly-lit roadway toward the intersection facing Central High School.

Before arriving at the intersection, the women were attacked by three gunmen who emerged from the overgrown bushes adjacent to the trucking company.

Sources say the assailants gun-butted the women, dragged them into the bushes, and robbed them of their purses and shopping bags. The women did not see the faces of their attackers.

A passerby came to the women’s aid after hearing cries for help, and the gunmen fled the scene with the women’s items.

Sources tell VI Consortium after the assailants fled, one of the victims remained on the ground, apparently knocked out from the blow she received to the head with the gun. She soon revived. The other victim was not seriously injured, but sustained scratches to her back when being dragged into the bushes.

Medical personnel was not called to the scene, as the victims refused medical treatment. However, sources told VI Consortium the victim who was apparently knocked out said she would seek medical treatment with the help of family members after leaving the scene.

The trucking company’s owner arrived on the scene after detectives left. He told VI Consortium reporters that he planned on putting up surveillance cameras and additional street lighting outside of the business he has operated for four years.

Sources tell VI Consortium detectives may have identified a suspect.

Police continue to investigate the case.
