On Wednesday night, firefighters with the Lima Company in St. Thomas battled a blaze at a residence in Anna’s Retreat, Oral Wheatley, St. Thomas-St. John fire chief announced. No injuries were reported.
According to Wheatley, at 10:42 p.m., Lima Company received an emergency call regarding a structural fire at #173-7 Anna’s Retreat. At 10:44 p.m., both units from Lima Company responded to the scene.
At 10:49 p.m., firefighters came upon the scene where they found a one-story home fully engulfed in flames. Additional units from Hotel Company were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters fought the blaze for approximately 13 minutes and the fire was extinguished at 11:02 p.m. Fire personnel then conducted salvage and overhaul operations of the scene, and the arson investigation unit was also asked to report to the scene.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents. It is unknown how many people were affected by the blaze.
At 1:05 a.m., both units and crew returned to Lima Company, and assisting units were ordered to return to Hotel Company.
