ST. CROIX — Detectives and VIPD officers have arrested brothers Jerome Williams, 24 of Mon Bijou and Jaime Williams, 26 of Concordia, after the two men led officers on a high-speed chase westward to Estate Carlton, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.
According to Jackson, on Monday, detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau received notification of a vehicle sighted at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), which had previously been reported as stolen.
The detectives, accompanied by other officers, traveled to the location but realized that the stolen vehicle was no longer in the area.
As officers and detectives continued to search, the vehicle was spotted on the Queen Mary Highway (Centerline Road), near the vicinity of the La Reine Gas Station.
Upon noticing that they were discovered, the suspect led their eventual captors on a high speed-chase and abandoned the vehicle in Estate Carlton. However, the suspects were subsequently captured and arrested.
The brothers were charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, and unable to post bail of $10,000 each, they were remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending their advise-of-rights hearing.
