Woman Robbed At Gunpoint In Friedensborg; Minor Harassed On Bus

News / Virgin Islands / April 19, 2015

ST. CROIX – Police are investigating an armed robbery of a woman that took place Friday night at mid-island.

The woman went to the Ann Schrader Command in Estate La Reine to report that an unknown male approached her in Old Friedensborg and pointed a gun at her, demanding money, police said.

She described the man as being a tall black man wearing all black clothing and said he took $500 in cash from her before fleeing the area on foot.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 712-6042, 911 or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-(800) 222-8477.

In other crime news, Albert Henry Guzman, 23 was arrested Tuesday and charged with disturbing the peace and vagrancy, in connection with an incident that occurred on the St. John ferry on Monday, April 13, 2015, police said.

A witness said Guzman harassed a minor that was on the St. John ferry and the VITRAN public bus, according to police.

According to the preliminary investigation, Guzman invited the minor to play video games at his house and continued to speak to the minor despite the fact that the minor was ignoring him.

Concerned citizens observed Guzman’s behavior and noticed that the minor did not know him, so Guzman was removed from the bus.

Guzman’s bail was set at $1000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections, pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

The case is currently under investigation by the Investigation Bureau, police said.
