ST. CROIX – Rotary Mid-Isle sponsored its annual Medical Careers Seminar at the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center recently.
Students from St. Croix Central High School – who expressed an interest in careers in the medical field – were invited to attend.
Twenty-two eleventh graders and three seniors heard from professionals in various medical fields talk about what it is like to be a medical professional.
Speakers included: Julia Runge, RDCS, RVT, Garfield Tobias, RT (R), and Deborah Moise, RT (R) from Diagnostic Imaging; Branda Dyer, CMA; Michelle Grochalski, RN; Charmaine Gumbs, Surgical Tech; Augustin Hendrington, Malika Felix, and Ladonia Carrington from the Biomedical Department; Marcel Galiber, RDMS, RVT, ARMRIT of Quantum CT and Pamela Colbert, RT (R) (MR) of St. Croix MRI.
Rotary Mid-Isle said a special thanks to Karen Chancellor, counselor at Central High School, for organizing the students who participated, and to Pamela Sanes, for arranging the speakers.
Following the presentations April 17, students enjoyed a light lunch from the cafeteria, and went on tours of the VI Cardiac Center, the hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department, Quantum CT and St. Croix MRI.
