Man Breaks Into Peter’s Rest Home, Escapes Empty-Handed

News / Virgin Islands / May 3, 2015

ST. CROIX – A woman said she was awakened by a loud bang on the front door of her home on Thursday morning in Estate Peter’s Rest and shortly afterwards saw someone enter her bedroom, according to police.

The woman said she pretended to be asleep but caught a glimpse of a man dressed in a white jersey, dark pants and a white cap, but when she moved her head slightly, the would-be burglar noticed and fled out the front door, police said.

Police responded to a call of an attempted burglary in Estate Peter’s Rest at 6:30 a.m. on April 30 and discovered that the suspect gained entry into the home by damaging the dead-bolt lock on the front door.

The woman wasn’t harmed in the incident and said that no one besides her was authorized to come into the home, police said. No items were discovered to have been missing from the home.

Police continue to investigate the matter.
