ST. THOMAS — A stateside couple visiting the island during the carnival season has been found stabbed to death in a vacation rental in the Sapphire Bay area, Kevin Jackson, VIPD public information officer has revealed.

The victims, husband and wife ages 73 and 67 respectively, sustained multiple stab wounds and were found at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Monday, however the incident may have occurred on Friday or Saturday, according to police reports.

The deceased identities and location in the U.S. are being withheld until notification of next of kin, Jackson said.

Sources with knowledge of the matter told VI Consortium that the incident took place at the Crystal Cove Resort on Sapphire Bay, on the island’s east end.

Police are currently following some “strong” leads and are in search of a person of interest in the double homicide.

Jackson said more information will be forthcoming as the story continues to unfold.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
