Man Shot In The Back In Williams Delight, Suspect Arrested

Breaking News / News / Virgin Islands / May 8, 2015

ST. CROIX — Police arrested Jonathan Rivera of the Williams Delight Housing Community on Thursday night and charged him with assault in the first degree for allegedly shooting a man in his back, Kevin Jackson, VIPD’s public information officer has revealed. The two men were previously engaged in an altercation.

Jackson said when officers arrived on the scene, they met with the victim, a 40-year-old male, who also resides in Williams Delight. The victim said Rivera shot him in the back when the two made contact on Thursday night in the community’s vicinity.

The wounded man was then transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance for treatment. However, according to Jackson, the victim’s current state is unknown.

Unable to post bail of $75,000, Rivera was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
