ST. THOMAS — A man involved in a shooting incident in April was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute on Friday, after police found several small Ziploc bags containing marijuana in his vehicle, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has revealed.
The man, identified by police as Glenn N. Freeman, 23 of Leifte Gade, was injured after multiple shots were fired in the area of Bergs Home on April 1. According to Jackson, police units from the Richard N. Callwood Command responded to the incident at around 10:25 p.m. that night. Upon arriving on the scene, officers observed an overturned vehicle in the area of Building 13 of the housing community, and moments later contact was made with the operator of the vehicle, now identified as Freeman, in the area of Hospital Ground.
Freeman was later transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center by ambulance, and was treated for a fractured left index finger and two lacerations to the right side of his head.
Unable to post bail of $10,000, the 23-year-old was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
