ST. CROIX — A man who lives in Frederiksted told police that he was robbed by two assailants while making his way home just after 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced via press release.
According to Jackson, the 911 emergency call center received notification of a robbery that occurred in downtown Frederiksted in the vicinity of Strand Street. Upon arrival on the scene, officers met with the victim, who stated that he’d just left a local bar & restaurant, venturing home by way of the Paul E. Joseph Stadium, when he was approached by two black males who proceeded to push him to the ground.
The victim said the pair picked him back up and said, “we’ll hurt you if you don’t give us your money,” to which he replied, “I don’t have any money on me.”
The suspects then grabbed the victim by the arms and forcibly walked him over to an ATM machine on the waterfront, where he withdrew $300 and gave it to the two suspects. They then fled the scene leaving the victim unharmed.
The victim said both suspects were 6 feet tall, slim and wore black clothing. Both men were clean-shaven, however one had short dreadlocks while the other was bald.
VIPD’s investigation into the incident continues, Jackson said.
