ST. CROIX — The Department of Finance, in conjunction with local banking partners, has instituted a contingency plan that allows banks to honor affected government employees’ direct deposit advices — which is essentially the stub of a payroll check showing earnings, witholdings and other expenses, a press release issued by Government House has confirmed.
According to the release, the direct deposit file has been transmitted successfully for local banking accounts and some employees should be credited by late this afternoon. However, government employees on off-island bank accounts will be credited by early tomorrow morning.
DOF says it sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
