Emancipation Day Parking And Traffic Restrictions Announced

ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department has announced parking restrictions for Emancipation Day 2015 celebrations, set for Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in the town of Frederiksted, according to a press release issued by the force’s Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson.

PARKING –These restrictions are in effect from 12:00 p.m., until the completion of the activities taking place in Buddhoe Park/Customs House Square on Friday, July 3.

  • Parking is prohibited at the intersection of Strand and Market Streets, North to Buddhoe Park
  • Parking is prohibited at Custom House and King Streets.
  • Parking is prohibited in the lot between the United Caribbean Association (UCA) Building and the Customs House (Oscar Henry) Building.

PARKING & TRAFFIC PATTERNS These restrictions are in effect from 6:00 a.m. until the completion of the day’s scheduled activities of a musical concert and fireworks display on Saturday, July 4.

  • Parking is prohibited on Strand, Market and Hill Streets (being used as Emergency Exits)
  • One Way traffic will flow North, on King Street into Frederiksted Town.
  • One Way traffic will flow South, on Queen Street out of Frederiksted Town.
  • Traffic on all other streets will follow as normal.
  • Vehicles parked in any restricted area will be cited and towed at the owner’s expense.

The police department apologizes for any inconvenience these restrictions may cause and wishes the community and visitors a safe and enjoyable Emancipation Day.
