UVI Career Services Host U.S. Peace Corps Informational Session on July 29; Aug. 26

UVI Career Services will host United States Peace Corps informational sessions at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, in the Teacher Education Room 103 on the St. Thomas Campus and the  Evans Center room 401 on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, according to a bulletin the institution of higher learning issued on Wednesday.

Information sessions will also be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, in the Teacher Education Building, room 103, and in Evans Center room 40l on the Sheen Campus.

U.S. Peace Corps Regional Recruiter, Leslie Jean-Pierre, will hold informational sessions at the University to raise awareness about the financial, educational and professional benefits of Peace Corps service.

The presentations will highlight the following:

  • How the Peace Corps can offer hands-on experience and leadership opportunities in the field of interest.
  • Possible career paths and graduate school opportunities following Peace Corps service.
  • Peace Corps benefits, which include a monthly stipend, full medical and dental coverage, 48 vacation days, intensive language training, and just over $7,400 at the completion of service.
  • Jean-Pierre’s personal experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Guinea, and in West Africa as a community development and preventative health volunteer.
