ST. CROIX — Governor Kenneth Mapp has nominated 8 individuals to serve on various boards and commissions in the territory, a press release issued on Friday has made known.
Some standout names include Attorney Henry C. Smock, Andrew Farkas, Steven Lilly and Oran Bowry to the University of the Virgin Islands’ Board of Trustees.
The governor also nominated Avery Challenger, a St. John resident, to the VI Taxicab Commission.
Bhagwandeen Persad has been nominated to the Board of Governors of the Virgin Islands Port Authority for the District of St. Thomas, and two nominees were submitted for the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority’s board: Joe Hollins, representing the district of St. Croix and Harith Wickrema, representing the district of St. John.
“It is my pleasure to ask the advice and consent of the 31st Legislature on these nominations,” Governor Mapp said regarding his transmittal letter to Senate President Neville James. “Confirmation of these nominees will enhance the Boards and Commissions’ abilities to meet their busy agendas and serve the people of the Virgin Islands.”
