ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs will host town hall meetings which will be attended by the leadership of the U.S. Veterans Affairs San Juan Regional Office on Monday and Tuesday here and in St. Croix respectively, according to a press release issued last week.
Present will be Director Dewayne Hamlin, who oversees the San Juan VA Medical Center and the VA clinics both here and St. Croix. Veterans will be given the opportunity to voice their concerns on access to VA medical facilities, travel to and from Puerto Rico for medical treatment, and waiting periods for medical appointments.
On St. Thomas the town hall will take place at the Charlotte Amalie High School on Monday August 10 from 6pm – 8pm; on St. Croix the event will happen at the St. Croix Educational Complex on August 11 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
“We figured the best way to address the concerns of our territories Veterans is to bring the leadership here so that they can hear the concerns first hand. These issues have been standing for far too long; it’s time to take these issues by the horn,” said the territory’s leadership arm of Veterans Affairs.
All Veterans and individuals who work with, or on behalf of Veterans are strongly urged to attend, according to the release.
