PR Passport Agency Reopens, Accepting VI Applications

ST . CROIX — The Office of the Lieutenant Governor has announced that the San Juan, PR Passport Agency has reopened and is currently accepting applications from residents needing to travel internationally within two weeks, according to a press release issued this afternoon.

According to the release, residents are welcomed to travel to Puerto Rico to be accommodated.  However, all applicants will need to present proof of travel to the San Juan Passport Agency.

The San Juan passport office was closed from April 2015 for renovations and reopened on Monday, August 17. According to the United States Department of State, service times from the territory’s passport acceptance facilities are currently at 3 weeks for the expedite service, and 4-6 weeks for the routine service.

Appointments are required and can be made by calling 1-877-487-2778 (toll free) 24 hours a day/seven days a week via an automated appointment system or via a customer service representative from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
