St. Thomas Third Degree Burglary Caught On Tape

Breaking News / News / Virgin Islands / September 3, 2015

ST. THOMAS — A business located in Estate Contant here fell victim to a third degree burglary on Saturday, August 29, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.

According to Jackson, on Friday, August 28 at roughly 11:00 p.m., the owner of the Flight Deck Restaurant closed and secured the business for the day. At 6:00 a.m. the following morning, the owner arrived at the establishment and noticed that the eastern side glass window had been shattered. Upon entering the premises, he then discovered that a Toshiba laptop had been taken, in addition to an undetermined amount of money from the cash register.

The preliminary investigation shows that the thief shattered the window with a rock, entered the establishment through the broken window and removed the cash and computer from the premises.
In the video clips provided, the suspect is clearly seen removing the items mentioned.

Because the incident is currently under investigation by Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau who are seeking more information, officers made available the videos showing the burglary, retrieved from the surveillance cameras installed by the business owner, hoping that someone may recognize the suspect and contact officers with information to assist in his apprehension.

If you recognize the suspect in the video, you’re urged to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit at 340-714-9803, 340-714-9849 or 911
