ST. CROIX — Two victims were viciously attacked, one of them raped and both robbed by two suspects brandishing knives, a press release issued this afternoon by VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has revealed.

According to Jackson, on Friday, Sept. 18 at about 1:14 a.m., officers received notification of a case of kidnapping for robbery and incident of rape, and were advised to make contact with one of the victims, at the time located in the vicinity of the Super Tank Gas Station in Sunny Isles, adjacent to Jackie’s Beauty Supply.

Officers then made contact with the male victim, who detailed to police what happened to him and his girlfriend.

The victim told police that at roughly 12:19 a.m., he and his girlfriend were leaving the Mutual Homes Housing Community when two, black men unknown to the couple approached them with knives. The suspects told the couple that they wanted money, took them towards their vehicle (a brown Ford Expedition and began physically assaulting the pair as they turned over the little cash they had.

But the suspects did not stop there. They forced the shaken couple into the vehicle at knifepoint, and drove towards the northside of Frederiksted where they attempted to rape the female victim.

The suspects then drove the victims to the Firstbank ATM in Sunny Isle and demanded that the male victim withdraw money from the machine. The victim added that he was so shaken that the card slipped and fell from his hand, and as one of the suspects was attempting to pick it up, he ran out of the vehicle; leaving the female victim with the suspects.

The suspects then left with the female victim, prompting the boyfriend to immediately call 911 to report the incident.

Officers then received notification from the 911 emergency call center that the female victim was in the Estate St. John area near the grocery store along North Side Road. She was located and transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

The suspects were described as being two, young black men, both with dark complexions. The older of the two wore a doo-rag that covered his dreadlocks, a dark brown shirt and green short military pants. The younger suspect had short hair, was clean-shaven and wore black slippers.

The incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit.
