ST. CROIX — A constable attached to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) was arrested Friday as allegations arose against him of a sexual nature committed on 8 year-old girl.
The Police Information Office says the Police Constable has been placed on compulsory leave after allegations he indecently assaulted the minor.
It is understood that the officer, a BVIslander who resides on Virgin Gorda was charged in relation to the incident which allegedly occurred about a month ago.
Reports say the constable is said to be a trusted friend of the child’s family.
The officer was officially charged with indecent assault and is to appear before Magistrate’s Court at the next available appointment.
The RVIPF says its policy does not permit the release of any details in relation to the assault or the constable’s name.
