ST. THOMAS — A man identified by his family as 56-year-old Ellmeade Daniel Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck on the left side of his head by a man named Mario Brown, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson revealed late Tuesday.
According to Jackson, officers responding to a report of an assault arrived on the scene and found the body of Daniel Sr. lying on the ground with a visible laceration to the left side of his head.
Investigation of the homicide revealed that at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Brown approached Daniel Sr. in the area of ‘Sanchez Town’ and the two became embroiled in a verbal altercation. As the exchange ensued, Brown picked up a rock and struck Daniel Sr. in the head.
Brown, 51, of Nadir was arrested and charged with first degree murder and second degree assault. No bail was set and Brown was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
