ST. CROIX — The Department of Finance Commissioner Valdamier Collens and Bureau of Internal Revenue Director Marvin Pickering have confirmed in a Government House press release issued this evening that $16 million of income tax refunds are currently being processed and is expected to be disbursed by September 30, 2015.
Refunds currently being paid are for tax year 2014, the release added. It further confirmed that all undisputed tax refunds for years 2011, 12 and 13 have been paid. Tax refunds for tax year 2015 are not due until April 2016.
According to Pickering, over $44 million in tax refunds have been paid to taxpayers for fiscal year 2015 thus far.
“Once the $16 million dollar batch is disbursed, total tax refunds paid will amount to $60 million by September 30, 2015,” the BIR director said.
Commissioner Collens stated that the Department of Finance remains committed to disbursing the tax refunds as quickly as possible.
“We intend to have these refunds on the street by September 30,” Collens emphasized. Both agency heads acknowledged the hard work and dedication of their employees in the continuous processing and payment of income tax refunds, according to the release.
