BIV’s Second Annual BVIHSA/ScotiaBank Partnership To Benefit Pediatric Ward

BVI / News / Virgin Islands / September 30, 2015

TORTOLA — A banking institution here is teaming up for a second straight year with the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) to raise funds to benefit Peebles Hospital.

Scotiabank (BVI) Limited and the Health Services Authority will host the second annual 5K Walk/Run on 7th November to benefit the Peebles Hospital Pediatric Unit.

Last year Scotiabank pledged to donate $15,000 annually over three years, totaling $45,000, and will co-host several local fundraising initiatives to help generate additional funds to aid the Pediatric Unit.

Speaking with Director of Hospital Services Cedorene Malone-Smith, she said “Last year was the first time this event took place and we were overwhelmed by its success. The first annual 5k Walk/Run with the bank’s first installment and corporate sponsorship generated $40,000 in 2014, and both the BVIHSA and Scotiabank hope to exceed that amount this year.”

The registration cost is $25.00 for adults and children under 12 years of age are free. The first 100 persons to register will receive prizes complement of Scotiabank and other corporate sponsors.

Persons can register as an individual or as a group. Registration forms will be available at every Scotiabank branch, at Peebles Hospital, at all Community Health Clinics and can be downloaded at www.bvihsa.vg.

Pediatric services available through the BVIHSA are administered by certified pediatricians who diagnose and treat medical conditions of patients from birth to 16 years of age.
