ST. CROIX — The death of a man in Estate Prince’s Quarters ( Mt. Pleasant West) brought the homicide count to 11 on this  island for the year, after police found his body lying along the roadside just off of the Queen Mary Highway (Centerline Road) with gunshot wounds to his body, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced this afternoon.

The victim’s identification is being withheld until notification of next of kin.

According to the report, at about 5:51 a.m. today, officers received notification from the 911 emergency call center of a man down in Estate Princess Quarters, below the St. Joseph Catholic High School. The caller who made the report also indicated that moments before the body was discovered, several shots were fired in the area.

Officers and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene, where a middle-aged black male was discovered lying alongside the road with gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency medical technician personnel examined the individual and found no signs of life.
