ST. CROIX — Acting Director of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections, Rick Mullgrav, announced on Tuesday the appointments of two key individuals to the Bureau’s leadership team: Mildred Trotter as Warden of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility & Detention Center here and Jimmy Warren, Jr. as Territorial Chief Inspector, a BOC press release issued yesterday makes known.
According to the release, these individuals are key components to the improved future of the agency.
Ms. Trotter, the release states, has vast experience in Corrections, having worked with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department as a sergeant, Bibb County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff, and Central State Prison as a correctional officer.
Ms. Trotter served in the US Army and received numerous honors and awards including the Southwest Asia Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Certified Peace Officer Certificate and Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal.
“Warden Trotter brings an organized and just mind to the leadership of the Golden Grove Facility. I have the utmost confidence in her abilities to turn this facility around and present the solutions for our settlement agreement,” Mr. Mullgrav said.
Mr. Warren is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Academy. He received his juris doctorate from Pace University-School of Law in 1998. His all-encompassing background includes 12 years as the Chief of Police in Sleepy Hallow, New York and 3 years as a professor of the Criminal Justice programs for both Iona and Westchester Community Colleges, according to the release.
“His experience and knowledge are the perfect combination to fit our needs here in the Territory,” Director Mullgrav added.
