ST. CROIX — Governor Kenneth Mapp has signed an order granting administrative leave to government employees for the upcoming holidays, according to a press release Government House issued late Thursday.
“The St. Croix Crucian Christmas Festival provides a boost to our economy and helps to promote an understanding and appreciation of our culture. It is also an opportunity for Virgin Islanders to play the role of goodwill ambassadors to the territory,” stated the governor.
The administrative leave dates are as follows:
Thursday, December 24th – Christmas Eve is a Half day for employees, all Government offices close at 1:00pm
Friday, December 25th – Christmas Day – All Government Offices Closed
Wednesday December 30th – St. Croix District Government Offices Closed
Thursday, December 31st –New Year’s Eve-Half day for employees, all Government Offices will close at 1:00pm.
Friday, January 1, 2016– New Year’s Day -All Government Offices are Closed
Wednesday, January 6, 2016-Thre Kings Day – All Government Offices Closed
The traditional St. Croix Crucian Christmas Festival J’ouvert will be held on the morning of Wednesday December 30, followed by the Food, Arts and Craft Fair.
The St. Croix Crucian Christmas Festival Children’s Parade will be held on Friday, January 1, 2016, while the Adult’s Festival Parade will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Three King’s Day, a territory-wide legal holiday, is Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
