‘Slices For A Smile’ Raises Funds, Garners Support For Catholic Charities In Territory

Lifestyle / News / Virgin Islands / December 19, 2015

ST. CROIX — During the holiday season, students of Catholic Schools in the Virgin Islands will be raising funds and awareness territory-wide for Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands (CCVI) through the “Slices for a Smile” campaign, a press release the nonprofit issued on Thursday has revealed.

According to the release, Slices for a Smile is a school-based competition where students from the four Catholic Schools in the territory go into the community asking individuals to support Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands through small donations. The school that raises the largest amount of funds will win a Pizza Fun day provided by the sponsors of Slices for a Smile.

Slices for a Smile is sponsored in part by Banco Popular, Domino’s Pizza, 107.9 FM Da Vybe, Innovative, VI Consortium, Napoleon’s Pizza, Pizza Gusto and Tullies Pizza.

Along with the major sponsors of Slices for a Smile, other businesses in the territory have contributed to the awareness and fundraising efforts by sharing their “We supported Slices for a Smile” picture on Facebook. Businesses like Urban Threadz, Island Insurance Agency, Team Believe It for Herbal Life 24 and Epok Graphics have already supported the campaign and encourage other local businesses to do so as well. Groups and/or individuals can also spread awareness through posting a picture on their Facebook page with the hashtag #GIVEASMILEVI and their donation stub.

Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands (CCVI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization of the Virgin Islands; a member of Catholic Charities USA, the Virgin Islands Continuum of Care and the V.I. Interagency Council on Homelessness. CCVI has been feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and clothing the needy for more than 46 years in the Virgin Islands. They provide a wide spectrum of services to struggling families and individuals; including the homeless, the mentally ill and the home bound elderly through their emergency shelters and programs such as HAPICAT, PATH and soup kitchens, according to the release.
