Domestic Violence Incident Leaves One Woman Injured, Another Arrested

News / Virgin Islands / December 22, 2015

ST. CROIX — A woman who accused another female of sleeping with her man, struck the victim in the left temple with a high-heeled shoe early Sunday morning, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced this afternoon.

According to Mr. Jackson, citing a police report, officers were dispatched to a residence in Estate Golden Rock on Sunday morning by the 911 emergency call center to investigate the report of an assault that had just occurred.

Responding officers arrived at the location specified and met with the victim, who stated that she was in her home with a male acquaintance, when she suddenly heard someone hitting her vehicle that was parked outside. The victim opened the front door of the home to ascertain what was going on outside, when a woman, later identified by police as Kiwanda John, stepped onto the porch with a black, high-heeled shoe in her hand and barged into the living room of the residence.

The victim said Ms. John accused her of “sleeping” with the male acquaintance who was present during the incident, and then attacked her with the high-heeled shoe — hitting her along the left temple. A struggle ensued and the two women fell onto the couch, at which point the male acquaintance forcibly pulled Ms. John off of the victim, pushed her out of the residence and shut the door.

Ms. John was charged with third degree assault. Unable to make bail of $25,000, she was  remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advise-of-rights hearing.
