ST. CROIX — The Committee on Rules and Judiciary unanimously approved three nominees selected by Governor Kenneth Mapp to serve on various commissions and the Juan F. Luis Hospital Board of Directors.

At committee meeting held at the Fritz E. Lawaetz Legislative Hall on Thursday, Kurt A. Walcott was approved to serve as member of the Real Estate Commission; Secundino Roman-Cruz as member of the V.I. Taxicab Commission; and Theresa M. Frorup-Alie as member of the Juan F. Luis Hospital Board of Directors.

According to a description found on his website, Mr. Walcott is the broker/owner of Walcott Real Estate and served as president of the St. Croix Board of Realtors in 2010. Mr. Walcott became licensed on St. Croix in 1986 as a real estate agent and in 1990 as a real estate broker. He is a member of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) and has obtained his CRS designation. He has also obtained his Graduate Realtor Institute designation.

Mr. Roman-Cruz, originally from Puerto Rico, moved to the territory in 1955 and has lived in Frederiksted since 1963. An Army veteran, he currently serves as Department Vice Commander, District 10 of the American Legion and oversees five Legion posts in the territory, according to his LinkedIn page. He’s also a retired police officer and graduate of the National FBI Academy.
And Mrs. Frorup-Alie is an accountant with a tax preparation business in Christiansted. “Whether you are an individual or a local business in or around Christiansted, Theresa M. Frorup-Alie has years of valuable experience as an IRS registered tax preparer,” reads a description of Mrs. Frorup-Alie on PTIN Directory, the national directory of registered tax return preparers and professionals. She graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting and management. The native Virgin Islander also obtained a master’s degree in the same field.

The three nominees will now face the full Senate for its ratification or rejection.
