ST. THOMAS — VIPD officers here were able to arrest a man identified as the person who struck and robbed a female victim on the outskirts of Yacht Haven Grand last week, Sakeeda Freeman, the force’s media specialist announced this  afternoon.

Delano Somersall, above, age 26 of Oswald Harris Court, was arrested and charged with third degree assault. No information on whether Mr. Somersall was jailed or managed to post bail was provided to the media.

On Sunday, January 24, at 6:45pm, officers responded to the report of a third degree burglary that occurred on the outskirts of Yacht Haven Grande.

According to the report, the female victim had been walking in an easterly direction outside of YHG when a Black male approached her from behind and grabbed her backpack. As the man attempted to steal the backpack, he dragged her across the street and struck her once in the stomach. The then-unknown male then took the backpack and ran into the Paul M.
