ST. CROIX — Rotary Club of St Croix Mid-Isle and Ocwen Mortgage Servicing, Inc., announced on Monday via press release their partnership to create a new scholarship program on St. Croix positioned to support the educational goals of public schools students on the island.

This newly offered scholarship will provide a four-year $5,000 per year scholarship to a deserving student from either St. Croix Educational Complex or Central High School.  The scholarship offering will be based on student achievement and financial need.

“Ocwen Mortgage Servicing, Inc. (O.M.S.) is committed to giving back to our local community through the support of higher education” said Tim Hayes, executive vice president of O.M.S.  “We’re very excited to partner with the Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid Isle to provide this new college scholarship opportunity which will help make a difference in the lives of hardworking high school graduates. The Rotary provides a great service to our community and we applaud the amazing work that they do,” Mr. Hayes said.

In addition, Rotary Mid-Isle will continue to offer its two four-year $1,000 Carlton Hodgson Memorial scholarships.  These are awarded annually.

“I would like to thank the leadership at Ocwen Mortgage Servicing, Inc. for their positive response during our discussions, culminating in this partnership, which is a model for other companies to follow” said Rotary Past District Governor Richard Grant. “We are always looking for ways to partner with businesses in our community to work together to support their initiatives for our community.” said Mid-Isle President, Kim DeLine.  “We thank OMS for their contributions to both the new scholarship and to the island wide Math Counts competition.”

Scholarship Application forms can be obtained from Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid–Isle at [email protected]  or by calling (340) 332-4451. Forms will also be available from senior school guidance counselors. Students are urged to avail themselves of this opportunity for obtaining assistance towards meeting their educational goals.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
