ST. CROIX — In a giveback effort to the St. Croix community, the Virgin Islands Police Department brought the Washington Adventist University Acro-Airs — the university’s lauded gymnasts — to the Big Island, and teamed up with My Brother’s Workshop, to both entertain and inspire youth to stay focused on the positive and their education.
The concept is simple, according to V.I.P.D. officer Don Peter, who attended W.A.U. and was a member of the Acro-Airs: attract the youth with topnotch entertainment and then feed them positivity.
Yesterday, the team visited Good Hope Country Day (they’ve already performed at around 11 schools — both public and private). Today, the gymnasts will put on a full show at the Central High School gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. A small fee of $3 for adults and $1 for children will be charged, with 100 percent of proceeds going to local charity, according to Mr. Peter.
Below, find the group’s performance at Good Hope Country Day on Friday. Mr. Peter said what you’re about to see is just a taste of what’s to come tonight.
