ST. CROIX — Soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice were honored today territory-wide — in Christiansted, St. Croix, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas and Cruz Bay, St. John — as dignitaries, servicemen, American Legion members and other groups marched through the various towns in honor of the fallen. Above, a wreath, placed by Governor Kenneth Mapp into the ocean at Fort Christianvaern, floats away.
Remarks were given, wreaths were laid, and even tears were shed as the territory remembered its fallen: the known and unknown who battled in wars around the world to protect liberty.
